Amazing event on Thurs. Oct. 14th! We raised $1068.24 for the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women & Children!!!

my visit to the Atlanta Day Shelter:

Friday Aug. 6, 2010

The three of us sat to discuss what both organizations were all about and how we could help one another.

The Atlanta Day Shelter opened 26 years ago as the first organization in Atlanta for homeless Women & children. Their vision is to offer an open door to any homeless woman and child to become self reliant again. Their program's success is greatly due to the dedicated Staff and the programs in place: Computer Training, Staffing assistance, Dental & Medical Care, Immunizations, Counseling, and overnight Housing assistance.

This morning I had the opportunity to visit the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women & Children. A humbling experience indeed. I arrived at 8am just as the building was opening and the women were lined up outside – their belongings in tow. Shortly thereafter, I was greeted by Ginny Nichols – Resource & Development Manager.

From there I was introduced to the Director, Leslee Samuelson, and we began with a morning prayer in the Lobby - a genuine appeal for God's grace. They serve over 150 Women & Childern per day and keep everyone active by scheduling their routines and tracking progress throughout the day. There are showers, basic necessities and toiletries, food and clothing available and even a hair salon to help primp and prep for school or job interviews. Quite an amazing establishment run by a small staff of 11 - 13 committed employees.
On Thursday Oct. 14th, Damsel Productions will held our premiere showcase at Smith’s Olde Bar to honor and support the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women & Children.

The money we raised specifically went toward their Critical Needs Program:

·         Shampoos, Lotion, Powder

·         Blankets

·         Feminine Hygiene products

·         Hand Sanitizer

·         Baby Formula

·         Diapers

·         Backpacks

·         School Supplies

·         Paper products

·         School Uniforms

·         Shoes & Clothing

·         Books & Games

We are proud to be of assistance to one of Atlanta's best organizations and look forward to a great event. Please tell all of you friends and we look forward to seeing you there.
